April 25, 2008 – that night we all drive up to the
hotel and get, hopefully, a good night of sleep.
The next morning we woke up at 5:30am and got ready for the
hike. After we got ready we went to “Pinkham Notch” the AMC (Appalachian
Mountain Club) headquarters. There we had to wait for the sun to get up
to take a group picture. Mr. Mead always calls it the last picture of all
of us because if any of us die this would be the last picture of you.
Then we start the hike. 15 min. into the hike we stopped and took clothes
off because we were getting hotter.
When we got up to the HoJo’s, an AMC Rangers
Hut, we took a short 30 minute break. After that we started the last hard
stride up to the ravine. When we got up to the ravine we took off to have
fun for four hours. Some of us climbed to the top of the ravine.
Others stayed at the bottom and others played on the ravine wall. Those
that climbed to the top had to ski or snow board down. Or if you were
with Mr. Mead you ended up sliding down the ravine. After that we all
hiked down back to HoJo’s where we broke of into two groups one group skied
down and the other hiked or ran down. When we all got to the bottom of
the mountain we went back to the hotel. We all went to the arcade, pool,
or other places and had some fun. At 6:00 pm, we had a gourmet dinner with pizza, chicken, pasta, meatballs, French fries,
salad and for desert jello or pudding.
That next morning, after a hardy breakfast, we all
got into the right cars and took the long trip home. This was one of our
best Tuckerman’s Trips ever. The weather was great, more people than ever
climbed and we all had a great time. We can’t wait for next year – hope
to see you there.
