The Rules of Golf

Golfing can be a lot of fun and a sport almost any scout can play.  It is also a merit badge that scouts can earn.

If you are interested in earning the merit badge, first take a look at the Golf Merit Badge requirements.

There is a great overview of Golf on Wikipedia, is a great place to learn about the game.

For requirement two, you can learn the complete USGA Rules of Golf or review these simplified rules of golf.

A good website to learn about the history of golf (requirement 3) is GolfEurope.com.

The USGA Handicap System enables golfers of all skill levels to compete on an equitable basis. You can learn more about this by reviewing "The USGA Handicap System" manual (Click on Section 1 - Purpose).

Troop 175 to Manage Parking at Simsbury Fly-In

The 2008 Simsbury Fly-In will be held on Sunday, Sept 21. Make plans to attend this wonderful event. Watch this space for more info as we get closer to the event date. The scouts and adult leaders from Simsbury Boy Scout Troop 175 have once again be assigned the task of parking all of the cars of attendees.

Last Year, the Fly-in drew an estimated 10,000 spectators, 220 airplanes of all types, and over 300 antique and classic autos. It featured a skydiving exhibition, a simulated rescue by LifeStar helicopter, live music by The Clams, a collection of military vehicles, judging and trophies for cars and airplanes, and many displays of homebuilt and other interesting aircraft. Dealer displays included several of the new Light Sport aircraft.
