Hop Meadow Pro Teaches Scouts to Golf

Sixteen scouts from Simsbury Boy Scout Troop 175 earned their golf merit badge with the help of Hop Meadow Country Club Head Pro Jason Waters. Mr. Waters spent time with the scouts on the practice range and on the course increasing their understanding and appreciation of the game of golf. The scouts learned about the rules of golf and the USGA handicapping system as well as proper grip and swinging of the clubs.

Troop 175 wishes to thank Mr. Waters and the members of Hop Meadow Country Club for allowing the scouts to play on the course to demonstrate the skills they have learned.

Scouts Burn U.S. Flags

Boy Scouts from Troop 175 took time out of their weekly meeting to destroy 16 American flags in a solemn ceremony. The Boy Scouts of America are one of the organizations charged with the duty to retire old worn out flags through a ceremony that honors the flag and what it stands for.

The ceremony was led by First Class Scout Nicholas Carabillo.
