The scouts of Troop 175 are invited to participate in a swim night at Westminster School pool on Thursday April 30th from 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
This activity is designed to allow our newest scouts to pass their BSA water test, which is required for any scout participating in any water related scouting activity, including canoeing.
The requirement is:
Jump feetfirst into water over your head in depth, swim 75 yards in a strong manner using one or more of the following strokes: sidestroke, breaststroke, trudgen, or crawl; then swim 25 yards using an easy, resting backstroke. The 100 yards must be swum continuously and include at least one sharp turn. After completing the swim, rest by floating.
This also meets a requirement for the Second Class (7b)and First Class rank (9a) and the swimming merit badge.
